Hello Everyone!

I’ve got some exciting news for the NKBA Anchorage chapter! HGTV’s “Bang for your Buck” is coming to Anchorage to film a segment and they happen to be looking for casting calls!!! Below this message the attached document explains more details about the segment and who to contact if you are interested in applying for the show. This would definitely be a great opportunity for our chapter to gain some more recognition and interest from our clientele, so I greatly encourage all of you to apply!!! Good-Luck!!! :o)

There is no general membership meeting for the month of April, so that everyone can attend KBIS!! (Remember, the more members who attend from our chapter the better the chances of our chapter winning the $3,000 NKBA Chapter Grant!!!)

We hope to see you all on May 19th for our next meeting, “Tree to Trim”, about wood moldings and design.

Inspector Certification & Licensing Panel Discussion 0

Posted on March 18, 2011 by admin

The City Inspector Certification & Licensing Panel Discussion was a success! The meeting had a great turn out and the speakers were very insightful and informative for those who are involved in building and re-modeling. Mike Green, the Electrical Inspector, informed the group of the proper amount of electrical outlets that are needed in the kitchen and bathroom, as well as presenting product solutions when working around windows and wet areas. The Lead Structural Inspector, Jim Stubbs, touched base on codes and necessary permits for structural changes while Gary Hile, Chief of Inspections and Lead Plumbing/Mechanical Inspector informed when a plumbing permit is required in re-modeling projects. To finish off the panel discussion, Al Nagel, Investigator IV/Program Manager for the state of Alaska educated the group on licenses and bonds, including the differences between a handy-man license and a contractor’s license.

A special thanks to the speakers  who took the time out of their day to educate us a little more on these important topics  and thanks to those who attended the meeting! It was a great time and we hope to see you at the next meeting!
